Unnecessary medical intervention. Ongoing prejudice. Shattered dreams.

My name is Maximila Imali. I am Kenyan. I am a runner. And I am now, and have always been, a woman.

But for years, female athletes like me have been forced into humiliating and invasive physical exams,
harmful medical procedures, and horrible traumas just to be allowed to run.

Now, I have been banned from competition entirely...

…unless I take drugs that change who I am and that hurt my body.

This ban has left my family in turmoil, and my soul in pieces.

Because in every way – running is my life.

In partnership with other female athletes, expert advisers, and nonprofit organizations across the globe, we are trying to fight this ban.

But we can’t do it alone.
